About Us

Hi there! Thank you for being here and for showing so much love to Adonis Sugar Kitty and our journey. We’re so grateful for every view, share, and kind comment—it means the world to us. 💕

From their cozy apartment in Berlin, Adonis and his international family—his Ecuadorian cat mom Roxy, German cat dad David, and Spanish sister Anabelita—create heartwarming content that transcends borders and languages. Together, they showcase the intelligence, charm, and emotional depth of cats, inspiring empathy and connection worldwide.

Adonis’s story begins long before he was born—back in Ecuador, where his cat mom, Roxy, had a beloved kitty named Caty. In 2011 when Roxy moved to the U.S. for grad school, Caty stayed behind with her family, as she was an outdoor cat who wouldn’t have adjusted to life indoors. In 2012, Caty developed kidney failure, and Roxy never got to say goodbye in person. Heartbroken, she wanted to do something meaningful in her name. That’s how she signed up to foster kittens at the Humane Society of Savannah, Georgia.

It was supposed to be temporary—just a three-month commitment. No keeping any kittens. No long-term plans. But if you’re here, you already know that’s not how things went

The Story of Adonis

Caty 2005 - 2012

The shelter had two mother cats needing foster care: one was gentle and affectionate, while the other was feisty, scared, and just so happened to look like Caty. Roxy didn’t hesitate—she chose the fierce one. The kittens were only 10 days old when they arrived. One day, as Roxy held a tiny newborn in her hands, his eyes opened for the first time. That was Adonis. And from that moment, he had already decided—he wasn’t going anywhere.

Adonis made sure Roxy knew it, too. He was loud. Demanding. If he wasn’t in her arms, he would cry. While his siblings napped together, he preferred curling up in bed with her. The bond was undeniable, but Roxy still tried to stay logical. When it was time to return the kittens for adoption, she packed a little bed and a carrier to send with him to his future home. But after driving away from the shelter, she pulled over just 15 minutes later. She called them back and said,

“He’s mine. Please tell him mama is coming to get him.”

From then on, they were inseparable.

Every move, every new adventure—Adonis is right there. He adjusted easily, having already spent his kittenhood accompanying Roxy everywhere in the car. Together, they lived in Savannah, Charlotte, and Brooklyn before moving across the world to Germany in 2014, where Adonis met David (cat dad). Unlike previous encounters with Roxy’s dates, Adonis didn’t chew David’s things out of protest—he actually liked him. That was a big deal.

A year later, they adopted Anabelita. It wasn’t exactly love at first sight, but eventually, the sibling squabbles settled into their version of harmony. These days, Adonis enjoys his routines, demands his pre-departure treat whenever Roxy leaves the house (and sometimes a second if she takes too long), and always has something to say about everything. Since moving to Europe, and even after his diabetes diagnosis he has continued traveling on short or long holidays, visiting Belgium, France, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Finland, and Estonia—always by Roxy’s side. He is much more than a diabetic cat—he’s a world-traveling, opinionated, snuggly, and deeply loved son.

About Adonis’ Diabetes Journey

Adonis was diagnosed with diabetes in January 2023 while we were visiting Ecuador. Despite starting treatment immediately, his health kept declining, and we felt lost—even with what we thought was expert vet guidance. Luck struck when we found the Feline Diabetes Support Group on Facebook while searching for tips and emotional support.

As we shared our concerns, we discovered something shocking—our vet was treating Adonis as if he were a dog. Canine diabetes protocols don’t work for kitties! The group’s incredible volunteer sugar kitty parents shared life-saving knowledge that turned everything around for us.

Our biggest advice to anyone managing feline diabetes: join that group. It’s life-changing. With their help, we found the right vet in Berlin using their checklist of essential questions. Our new vet was thrilled with Adonis’ progress and relieved we’d already learned the basics of his care.

Daily glucose testing has been the foundation of Adonis’ health. When we started sharing videos, we never imagined they’d lead to such a kind and supportive community. 🐾

Hearing from diabetic cat parents, human diabetics, and even people just looking for a smile has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

Adonis Family

We’re committed to keeping all the feline diabetes knowledge we’ve gained since Adonis’ diagnosis 100% free through the content we create. Managing this condition is hard and expensive, and we want to make it easier for others to navigate. After all, we learned so much from the FDSG—we’re simply paying back our forever debt.

Our Mission

By sharing Adonis’ journey, we aim to raise awareness, provide hope, and inspire empathy in everyone who follows along.
